PANDEMIC PERSPECTIVES

an outdoor exhibit

CALL FOR ART

NEW: PANDEMIC PERSPECTIVES WEB PAGE

MountainTrotter Arts is teaming up with Happy Sprouts Gardens to present an outdoor exhibit, open to all Radford residents. This unique opportunity is first of its kind in Radford; the purpose of this exhibition is to provide a creative outlet for Radford residents to artfully express their response to the pandemic, and to provide an outdoor artful destination for NRV residents to safely view and experience art.

What is your artful response to Life During the Time of Covid-19? What has your journey been like? Has it been one of hope? Of upheaval? Boredom? Something else? What have you learned about yourself, or the people you have quarantined with? Do you feel “we are all in this together”, or something entirely different? Are you different now than you were before the pandemic? How has life changed for you?

We are going through a time that will be recorded in history as full of uncertainty, frustration, fear, and great unknowns. However, times like these can be fruitful periods of revelation, insight, and great creativity. What we say and create now as we are in the midst of it will become part of the zeitgeist of this time, OUR TIME, as well as part of future conversations and reflection. Throughout the history of civilization, artists have reflected their present experiences in the art they create. What is your perspective? What do you have to say through art? We want to know!

You are invited to put these feelings into artwork (2D or 3D) that can be displayed outdoors for up to 4 months, in an Art Garden Space where Anything Grows, where the public will be invited to view, touch, and interact with art while being safely distanced.

MountainTrotter Arts  seeks 2D and 3D fine art/craft entries that speak of our current situation and anticipations for the future. Works to be exhibited will be chosen by a panel of artists and MTA Board members based on artistic creativity, experimentation, imagination, originality, and response to the theme. This exhibition will be free and open to the public from July 20, 2020 until October 11, 2020 at Central Depot Courtyard located at 307 W Main St, Radford, VA (Next to Brick House Pizza, behind the white stucco wall with open windows).

Open to all New River Valley residents of all ages. Group projects are allowed. Work must be suitable for all outdoor elements. There is no entry fee. SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED: JULY 17TH @6PM.

CALL FOR ARTISTS, CRAFTERS, & MAKERS

Craft & Draft is an outdoor family friendly craft festival held every fall in Radford, VA. We house between 30-40 arts & crafts vendors, live music all day, craft beer, and a variety of food trucks. Taking place on the grassy lawn next to Glencoe Mansion Museum & Gallery, Craft & Draft is entering into it's sixth year of bringing hand-crafted artisans & entertainment to our community! Each year, with the help of your kind donations, this event gives back to a local charitable organization. We have donated over $6,000 to local organizations!

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we are currently working on ways to both hold this event and keep it safe for our vendors and patrons. As we've never quite experienced anything like this before, we appreciate your grace & patience with us!
